It kind of conditioned the palette of the film.”īuilding the streets of New York was a massive endeavor for Craig and his crew. It was quite surprising how much New York was built with red brick. “I've been to New York four or five times in my life but not with the same sense of purpose,” Craig says. The team took in the city, gathering research and inspiration for the streets they would build back at Leavesden Studios in the U.K. The production designer began by venturing to the city to investigate the possibility of shooting on location, which he quickly realized was impractical. Craig and his team were tasked with creating environments that blended Rowling’s wizarding world with the look and feel of New York in the 1920s. ![]()
